| "Tarkovsky's River" is about a journey into
landscape, into the deep heart of a place where the river is as wide
as a sea, where skies are vast and time stands still. A journey into
collective memory that holds within it the interconnectedness of man
and the natural world.
“Tarkovsky's River” brings together still images taken
in Yureyvits and the Upper Volga area of Russia, where was Andrei
Tarkovksy spent his childhood.
Although the photographs do at times refer in substance to the
films of Andrei Tarkovsky, they are really about the journey itself.
The series is about the experience of making the journey into a
deeper sense of the land, and of time itself, which is where Tarkovsky
takes us.
"Tarkovsky'River is a proejct consisting of a slide show originating
on 35mm transparency, and a short narrative film. Selected images
form the photo series are available as prints. A limited-edition
book of the project is in progress.
"Tarkovsky's River" was exhibited at PHOTOCINEMA,
the 2009 Forum Festival of Photography
