In most cities of the world, monuments occupy public space and blend into the urban environment. Erected to commemorate an event or notable person, with the passage of time the ideas and world views they represent are forgotten or discredited. Yet still these figures remain on the landscape, slowly decaying, visible yet unseen, silent witnesses to our fate.
