Death in Snow

Death in the snow brings together two of the principal cliches of Russia as imagined by the foreigner: the long cold winter and the Matrioshka doll. The video is an electronic version of the kitsch tourist souvenir, the glass «snowball» which as you shake it, produces snow. This work is concernied with exploring the line which divides reality from dream, memory and imagination.
